""Bad intonation
Strings are sharp and reeds are flat
Brass, too loud again."

- Haiku, Anonymous Clarinetist

Another great enduring tradition of brass musicians is playing far too loud for the woodwinds. Add percussion to the mix and, well, it's pretty much every clarinetists worst nightmare. Last month (against our better judgement) we invited woodwind players into the fold, and premiered a new wind ensemble: "Maritime Wind Corps". The repertoire for this 10-piece+ band consists of marches, military music, ceremonial fanfares, and concert wind band selections. See the link above for more info.

"Peter & the Wolf" rehearsals are progressing nicely. See the Projects In The Works page to hear a few new clips. We've brought a talented local actor onboard, James Vasquez, to coach our narrator Terence Cooper, and aid with the staging and blocking of the performance. We plan on having a venue selected by next week for a premier performance in mid-late May.
(Update on 4/18: The date of our premier is Saturday, June 4th, 2pm at the Vanguard Theatre in Point Loma. Admission is free, but seating is limited. Contact us for tickets and further info.)

In other band news, Andrew Elstob will be performing his graduate jazz trumpet recital on Sunday, April 17th at SDSU. Congratulations buddy!

Happy Spring!
